Seven miners lost their lives due to a gas leak in the coal mine located in the Damgan district of Simnan province in Iran.

According to the Iranian official news agency IRNA, the Secretary of the Country's Coal Union, Said Samedi, made a statement regarding the issue. Samedi stated that 7 people died in the coal mine in the Damgan district of Simnan province, noting that the mine in question is small-scale and is not among the mines that are members of the Coal Union.

"WORKERS DID NOT FOLLOW SAFETY RULES"

Samedi, who reported that a small number of workers were working in the mine, stated, "It seems that the cause of this accident is not methane gas; if it were, it would have caused an explosion in the mine. Therefore, carbon monoxide gas caused the miners' deaths." Samedi mentioned that the mine was closed due to the Nowruz holiday, and when the workers entered the tunnel to work, they did not follow safety rules, which is why they were exposed to the gas.
