The claim that President Erdoğan called a member of the judiciary regarding the corruption investigation into the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality and said, "Wasn't your case very strong?" has resonated widely in the public. The Communications Directorate, which denied reports appearing in some media outlets, stated, "This statement reflected in the public is fabricated and baseless."

The claim that will be widely discussed regarding the 'corruption' investigation into the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) President Ekrem İmamoğlu's arrest has emerged.

"I COULD HAVE WRITTEN THAT I AM NOT SATISFIED WITH THE CURRENT SITUATION"

Breath writer Deniz Zeyrek shared a backstage story he received from a source close to the government in his article titled "Is Erdoğan satisfied with the outcome?". The relevant part of Zeyrek's article is as follows: "Actually, I could have written directly, 'President Erdoğan is not satisfied with the current situation after the Ekrem İmamoğlu operation.' As a justification, I could have shown the claims that Erdoğan reacted to the judiciary member managing the İmamoğlu operation by saying, 'Wasn't your case very strong?' and that the judiciary member replied, 'Sir, the real culprits are fugitives; if we can bring them, then you will see the bigger picture.' However, I cannot do this. Because the source close to the government who told me this does not want me to mention him as a source. Another source of mine, who claims to have the same information, is also hesitant to make a statement."

DENIAL FROM THE PRESIDENCY

While the claim brought to the agenda by Zeyrek has caused a wide reaction in the public, a denial came from the Communication Presidency's Disinformation Combat Center regarding the news published in some media outlets. In a statement made from the Disinformation Combat Center's X account, it was stated, "The claims in some media outlets regarding the corruption investigation into the IMM, 'President Erdoğan called a judiciary member and said, 'Wasn't your case very strong?' are not true."

"THIS STATEMENT IS FABRICATED AND BASELESS"

There has been no conversation between our President Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and any judiciary member as claimed. This statement reflected to the public is fabricated and baseless. Do not trust claims that aim to harm judicial independence and turn judicial processes into materials for political discussions," the statement included.
