Cooperation with Israel in defense industry contradicts principle of impartiality, makes Austria complicit in ‘genocide’ committed against Palestinians,' says Jewish activist.

Students protesting Israel's war on Gaza set up an encampment at the University of Vienna on Monday, joining many other campuses across the Western world.

In solidarity with Palestinians, students hung banners saying "Stop the genocide" and "Boycott Israel" at the Altes AKH campus where they set up an encampment.

They demanded the university to end all cooperation with Israel.

Speaking at the demonstration, Dalia Sarig-Fellner, a Jewish activist, said the University of Vienna participated in joint projects with Israel in the defense industry, which contradicted the principle of impartiality.

She said this cooperation made Austria "complicit in the genocide committed against the Palestinian people."

"Brave young people are raising their voices," Sarig-Fellner noted, referring to other campus protests at various universities.

The global wave of pro-Palestinian student demonstrations began on April 17 at New York's Columbia University to protest Israel's offensive in Gaza and spread to other Western countries including the UK and France. -
