German Chancellor Olaf Scholz opposed U.S. President Donald Trump's plan to "take over" Gaza and forcibly displace Palestinians.
"I COMPLETELY REJECT IT"
Chancellor Scholz stated in a speech at a campaign event in Ludwigsburg, "I completely reject what President Trump has proposed. It is not right to forcibly send the population of Gaza to Egypt and Jordan."
"EVERYTHING MUST BE DONE TO ENSURE COEXISTENCE"
Scholz said that everything must be done to prevent further escalation of tensions in the Middle East and to ensure peaceful coexistence between the Palestinian state and Israel.
TRUMP'S PLAN TO "TAKE OVER" GAZA AND FORCEFULLY DISPLACE PALESTINIANS
Trump had stated during a joint press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House that the U.S. would take over the Gaza Strip and would be responsible for dismantling unexploded bombs and other weapons and clearing the rubble of destroyed buildings.
Noting that Gaza is now a vast area of complete destruction, Trump argued that it would be much better for Palestinians in Gaza to go to new settlements to be built in neighboring countries, primarily Egypt and Jordan.
Trump stated, "The U.S. will take over the Gaza Strip, and we will do a job there. We will own it and will be responsible for dismantling all the dangerous unexploded bombs and other weapons on the ground and clearing the rubble of destroyed buildings."
