The German coach led the yellow and navy team to the championship for two consecutive seasons, but in the third season, they lost the championship to Galatasaray on the last week. Although the German coach signed a 2-year contract with the green and white team, they parted ways before the first year was completed due to poor performance. Daum's last coaching experience was with the Romanian National Team in the 2016-17 season.
