After the Central Bank lowered the interest rate to 37 percent in its one-week repo auction, public banks decided to cut loan rates. VakıfBank General Manager Osman Aralan announced that public banks will reduce all loan rates by 2-3 points starting Monday.

The President of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB), Rıfat Hisarcıklıoğlu, came together with the general managers of Ziraat Bank, Halkbank, and Vakıfbank at an important meeting held in Diyarbakır.

Speaking at the summit, Hisarcıklıoğlu recalled that the Central Bank started funding the market at a 37 percent interest rate at the beginning of the week and that a 3-point decrease in interest rates was achieved. Emphasizing that the business world wants to see this reduction on the ground, Hisarcıklıoğlu said, "We request that our banking sector quickly reflect this three-point reduction in commercial loan interest rates without wasting time."

PUBLIC BANKS POINT TO MONDAY

The response from public banks to the interest rate cut demand from the business world did not delay. Stating that they will comply with the Central Bank's one-week repo auction, Vakıfbank General Manager Osman Aralan gave the good news on behalf of public banks. Aralan announced that the reduction process has been initiated, saying, "Starting immediately from Monday, as public banks, we will also lower all interest rates by two or three points right away."
