A Greek island, notable for its location close to the Turkish coast, has been put up for sale with a price tag of $5 million. Strongylo Island, standing out with its turquoise bays, three natural beaches, and largely unspoiled nature, has features that may attract investors seeking a private living space in the Aegean.

Strongylo Island, located in Greece’s Dodecanese region and drawing attention with its position close to Turkey’s Aegean coast, has been put up for sale. The island, with a surface area of approximately 219,000 square meters, has been priced at 5 million dollars. Featuring three natural beaches and a largely untouched structure, the island attracts investors seeking to develop private property or a tourism project.

IT HAS THREE NATURAL BEACHES

Strongylo, located north of Patmos and near Lipsi Island, is part of the Arkoi island group. The natural structure of the island, which has an area of approximately 219,000 square meters, is largely preserved.

The sales listing states that the island has three natural beaches. One of them has a sandy and sheltered coastline approximately 110 meters long. The island’s undeveloped appearance is among the features highlighted for those seeking to develop a private residence or a high-end ecotourism facility.

However, it is stated that any construction on the island depends on zoning rules, permits, and approvals from relevant institutions. The project possibilities mentioned in the sales listing do not mean that any construction has been definitively approved.

THERE ARE REMAINS OF AN OLD HOUSE AND A WELL

There are also stone remains of an old house and a well on the island. The sales listing mentions a natural water source and the possibility of connecting to the electricity grid via nearby Marathos.

However, the actual availability of water and electricity facilities, connection costs, and infrastructure needs must be evaluated separately. The fact that the island can only be reached by sea is also among the factors that must be considered in possible investment plans.

TRANSPORTATION IS PROVIDED BY BOAT

Strongylo can be reached by private boat or water taxi. Nearby Leros Island provides air access to Athens, while Patmos and Lipsi also offer alternatives for traveling to other islands in the region.

The region attracts visitors who want to swim, sail, and explore the coves around the Dodecanese. However, the island’s isolated location requires those planning tourism investment to plan matters such as transportation, water supply, electricity, and construction logistics in detail.

IT WAS ALSO ASSOCIATED WITH JOHNNY DEPP

Strongylo Island had also made headlines in the past in connection with Hollywood actor Johnny Depp. In 2015, some Greek and international media outlets reported that Depp had bought the island for 4.2 million euros.

However, it has not become clear who the island’s current owner is or whether Depp still has any connection to the property. Therefore, the past purchase reports do not by themselves reveal the island’s current ownership status.

The announced sale price for Strongylo is 5 million dollars. Whether the island will be turned into a private living space or a tourism-oriented project in the future will depend on the buyer’s plans as well as the property’s legal status and the necessary permitting processes.
