Gülce Dora Turhan, 5, who was injured when the lower three floors of the 7-story Kardeşler Apartment building collapsed in Maltepe on October 8 and died in the hospital where she was taken, was buried 11 days later because of her mother's treatment. The mother, Sevgi Turhan, who was still being treated at the hospital, was brought to the funeral by ambulance and, from the stretcher, clung to her daughter's coffin and wept.
Gülce Dora Turhan, 5, who lost her life when the first 3 floors of a 7-story building in MALTEPE collapsed, was buried in Başıbüyük Cemetery after the funeral prayer held at Mimar Sinan Mosque. Her mother Sevgi Turhan, whose treatment was continuing in hospital, was brought to the funeral by ambulance. The mother, brought on a stretcher to her daughter's coffin, hugged the coffin and cried.
SHE COULD NOT BE BURIED FOR 11 DAYS
The lower 3 floors of the 7-story Kardeşler Apartment Building on Doğu Street in Cevizli Neighborhood collapsed on October 8. Gülce Dora Turhan, who was rescued injured from the building along with her father Furkan Turhan, her mother Sevgi Turhan, and her older brother Harun Bora Turhan, lost her life in the hospital where she was taken. The body of Gülce Dora Turhan, who could not be buried for 11 days due to her mother's treatment in intensive care, was brought to Mimar Sinan Mosque by her relatives after being taken from the mortuary. Gülce Dora Turhan was bid farewell on her final journey with the funeral prayer performed after the noon prayer.
HER MOTHER WAS BROUGHT TO THE FUNERAL BY AMBULANCE
Istanbul Deputy Governor Cengiz Karabulut, Maltepe District Governor Mehmet Akçay, and Gülce Dora Turhan's relatives and close ones attended the funeral. Father Furkan Turhan received condolences in the mosque courtyard. Mother Sevgi Turhan, whose treatment in hospital continued, was brought to the mosque by ambulance. Sevgi Turhan, brought on a stretcher to her daughter's coffin, could not hold back her tears. Gülce Dora Turhan was buried in Başıbüyük Cemetery after the funeral prayer led by Maltepe Mufti Hasan Küçük.
