A new development has occurred in the investigation regarding Gülistan Doku, who has been missing in Tunceli since January 5, 2020. Former Tunceli Governor Tuncay Sonel, who is currently under arrest, protection police officer Şükrü Eroğlu, and retired police officer Gökhan Ertok were referred to the Erzurum Courthouse again, after a health check, within the scope of new evidence.
A significant development has occurred in the investigation led by the Erzurum Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding university student Gülistan Doku, who has been missing in Tunceli since January 5, 2020. Former Tunceli Governor Tuncay Sonel, his protection officer Şükrü Eroğlu, and retired police officer Gökhan Ertok, who are currently detained within the scope of the investigation, have been referred to the Erzurum Courthouse again.
NEW EVIDENCE FOUND IN DIGITAL MATERIALS As part of the investigation conducted by the Erzurum Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, a technical examination was carried out on the digital materials of former Governor Tuncay Sonel, who is currently detained.
It was reported that the correspondence between Sonel and dismissed police officer Gökhan Ertok, who is also detained within the scope of the investigation, was evaluated under the crimes of destroying, concealing, or altering evidence of a crime, unlawfully obtaining personal data, depriving a person of liberty, intentional injury, robbery, and destroying or altering data in an information system.
SIMULTANEOUS OPERATION CARRIED OUT IN ANKARA Within the scope of the investigation, suspects E.E. and S.K. were taken into custody on July 23 in a simultaneous operation conducted in Ankara. Following the emergence of new evidence, former Tunceli Governor Tuncay Sonel, protection officer Şükrü Eroğlu, and retired police officer Gökhan Ertok were taken from the prison where they were detained, first brought to Erzurum City Hospital for a medical check, and later brought to the Erzurum Courthouse under intense security measures to give their statements.
NOTEWORTHY STATEMENT FROM THE CHIEF PUBLIC PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE In its statement regarding the investigation, the Erzurum Chief Public Prosecutor's Office reported that technical examinations of Tuncay Sonel's digital materials revealed photographs, correspondence, and concrete facts of a coincidental evidentiary nature, pointing to an unlawful network of relations involving abuse of public power and various crimes under the Turkish Penal Code.
The statement included the following expressions: "In the technical examinations conducted on the digital materials of suspect Tuncay Sonel, photographs, correspondence, and concrete facts of a coincidental evidentiary nature, relating to an unlawful network of relations involving abuse of public power and various crimes under the Turkish Penal Code, have been obtained. Based on the evidence obtained, a simultaneous operation was carried out today in Ankara against a total of 5 suspects, 3 of whom are currently detained within the scope of the case, and 2 target suspects not in prison were apprehended and taken into custody."
