In the investigation into Gülistan Doku, a university student who has been missing for 6 years in Tunceli, the statement given to the prosecutor by her ex-boyfriend Zeinal Abarakov has emerged. Abarakov stated that before Doku disappeared, she went to her teacher's house instead of the dormitory and sent him a message saying "I am scared."
The file of Gülistan Doku, who disappeared in Tunceli on January 5, 2020, has been taken off the dusty shelves and reopened for investigation after 6 years. Although the case, in which the then Tunceli Governor Tuncay Sonel and his son Mustafa Türkay Sonel were arrested, is based on a 'murder' rather than a routine missing persons case, Doku's lifeless body has still not been found. New developments regarding the investigation continue to occur.
Zeinal Abarakov, Doku's ex-boyfriend, made a statement to the Tunceli Public Prosecutor's Office. The statement revealed that Gülistan Doku went to her teacher's house instead of the dormitory before she disappeared, and from there sent a message to Abarakov saying, 'I am afraid.'
CRITICAL STATEMENT REGARDING GÜLİSTAN DOKU'S DISAPPEARANCE
According to the news by Hüseyin Kaçar from Sabah; Zeinal Abarakov stated in his testimony that Gülistan Doku was at their house the day before she disappeared, then left, and spent the night not at the dormitory but at her teacher's house.
Regarding the message Doku sent him saying 'I am afraid,' Abarakov used the following statements:
"From the 'I am afraid' message Gülistan sent me, I understood that she was staying outside and couldn't make it to the dormitory. The next day, I learned that Gülistan was at her teacher's house when she sent the message.
I don't know why she sent me a message saying 'I am afraid' while at the teacher's house. When I told Gülistan 'go to the dormitory or to Küba, call me when you go,' my intention was that I was worried about her, I sent that message to ensure she went to a safe place. I don't remember exactly, but I recall that Gülistan did not call me or send me a message. From Gülistan's sentence 'time is up for us,' I understood that our relationship was over. I don't know why Gülistan didn't contact me for 15 days and wanted to get in touch on January 4."
"I FOLLOWED HER BY CAR"
Abarakov said that when he saw Gülistan Doku heading towards a different route instead of going to the dormitory before she disappeared, he followed her with his vehicle.
In his statement on this matter, he noted the following:
"Gülistan did not use the short cut she always used when going to the dormitory; when she turned onto a different road, I continued behind her with the car. I told her to get into the car and that I wanted to drop her off where she was going. However, Gülistan refused my offer. Gülistan went on foot, and I followed her slowly in the car."
"I PULLED HER A BIT"
Abarakov later described trying to get Doku into the vehicle, using the following expressions:
"Then I approached her again, got out of the car, and insisted that she would be late for the dormitory and that I wanted to drop her off. When I wanted to drop Gülistan at the dormitory, she gave me attitude and didn't accept my offer. Since I saw her going towards the other direction instead of the dormitory, I tried to get her into the car by grabbing her arm. I pulled her a bit. Gülistan then started shouting at me. But Gülistan refused again."
"MY INTENTION WAS MARRIAGE"
Abarakov, who said he did not know whether Gülistan Doku was subjected to any threats or blackmail, made the following explanation regarding the word 'help' mentioned in his messages:
"I do not know whether Gülistan Doku was a witness to something or whether she was subjected to threats or blackmail. I do not know if Gülistan Doku threatened anyone either. Since I had not heard from Gülistan Doku for a long time, I thought she was being held somewhere by force. The help I mentioned in my messages is a way to rescue Gülistan from the situation she was in. By rescue, I mean getting married and building a life."
"SHE WAS SAD, QUIET, AND ANXIOUS"
Abarakov stated that Gülistan Doku appeared sad and anxious during their last conversations. He expressed that he learned the young girl was missing when her friends called him, but initially he did not think the situation was that serious.
"I NEVER THOUGHT SHE COULD BE IN DANGER"
In his statement, Abarakov said that it did not cross his mind that Doku might be in trouble, stating that while continuing his daily life, he looked for her around but did not think she could be in danger.
RESPONSE TO RAPE AND PREGNANCY ALLEGATIONS
Abarakov said he had no information regarding the allegations that Gülistan Doku was raped or pregnant.
In his statement on this matter, he included the following words:
"I don't know whether Gülistan was raped or whether she was pregnant. She did not ask me for help on this matter, nor did she make even the slightest hint about it. If she had, I would definitely have protected Gülistan and helped her. If something had happened to Gülistan or if I had known about it, I would definitely have protected Gülistan and helped her. I don't know what happened to Gülistan. Because Gülistan is very valuable to me, I asked Cansu to call Gülistan and be by her side."
HE ALSO DESCRIBED THE HOTEL AND PROTECTION PROCESS
Abarakov explained that he came from Russia to Turkey upon his mother's call, stayed with his family at a hotel in Antalya, and was under police protection during this time. Abarakov stated that they did not cover the hotel expenses themselves, and later they were placed in a house in Alanya.
CONSECUTIVE UNANSWERED CALLS WERE DETECTED
According to findings in the investigation file, Gülistan Doku called Zeinal Abarakov many times on January 4, 2020, one day before her disappearance. It was determined that on the same day, Doku sent a message to Abarakov, and that Abarakov's mother also called the young girl on the phone. Additionally, it was found that Abarakov also had a phone conversation with Gülistan Doku during the night hours.
