Singer Gülşen has initiated legal proceedings against singer Umut Akyürek, alleging that he insulted her and damaged her honor, dignity, and reputation through statements made on social media. Through her lawyer, Gülşen filed a petition with the court, demanding 5 million lira in non-pecuniary damages from Akyürek.
Singer Gulsen filed a 5 million lira moral compensation lawsuit against her colleague Umut Akyurek, who targeted her with heavy accusations regarding her stage outfits and style. The petition emphasized that Akyurek used Gulsen as a tool for his own family problems, committing a "character assassination."
The debates, which began after singer Umut Akyurek's daughter Melek Bal, who is undergoing drug treatment, went viral on social media with a video she shot at her grandfather's coffin, have moved to the courthouse. Following the family drama, singer Umut Akyurek, drawing attention to the destructive impact of pop culture figures on young people, named and accused singers Hadise and Gulsen.
"SOCIETY IS IN THIS STATE BECAUSE OF THOSE WHO PERFORM IN UNDERWEAR"
Akyurek, harshly criticizing singers' stage styles and shows, made a statement on his social media account, saying, "Society is in this state because of those who perform in underwear and those who exhibit disgrace under the name of art by moaning in the arms of five men. I will criticize these pop culture figures until I die, and I will not back down from telling the truth," igniting a major debate in the entertainment world.
Following the statements, the first legal move came from Hadise, who claimed she was targeted through her daughter, and the famous singer filed a 60 thousand lira compensation lawsuit against Akyurek.
RECORD COMPENSATION DEMAND
After Hadise, singer Gulsen also took action. Stating that she was insulted and that her honor, dignity, and reputation were damaged, Gulsen filed a 5 million lira moral compensation lawsuit against Umut Akyurek.
In the lawsuit petition submitted to the court by Gulsen's lawyer Emek Emre, it was alleged that Umut Akyurek tried to benefit from his client's popularity in an effort to stay in the spotlight.
"MY CLIENT WAS TARGETED"
Lawyer Emek Emre included the following statements in the petition:
"Akyurek targeted my client by citing her as the reason for the accusations directed at him. He has committed a character assassination with the effort to undermine my client's spiritual world, family life, spouse, and young child, and to humiliate her in the eyes of society. While it is perfectly normal for my client's stage shows and outfits to be discussed, we have faced Umut Akyurek's accusatory allegations that exceed the boundaries of criticism."
The petition also touched on the issue of drug addiction, stating, "As someone who has never used drugs in her life and even refrains from alcohol, it is incomprehensible how my client could be linked to the problem faced by Akyurek's daughter. The recorded video contains no reference to my client's lifestyle. Moreover, Akyurek's daughter Melek Bal clearly stated in her post that she does not see my client as a role model and does not watch her. Akyurek has publicly insulted her."
