Norway secured their place in the round of 32 by defeating Senegal 3-2 in Group I of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Erling Haaland starred with two goals, bringing his tournament tally to four.

The first goal for Norway came from Pedersen, who entered the game later. Pedersen, who replaced the injured Ryerson in the 13th minute, found the net in the 43rd minute, putting his team ahead 1-0 and setting the score for the first half.
HAALAND'S SHOW CONTINUES
Norway started the second half quickly, doubling the lead with a goal from Erling Haaland in the 48th minute. Senegal responded with a goal from Ismaila Sarr in the 53rd minute, but Haaland took the stage once again. The star striker found the net in the 58th minute, making the score 3-1. Ismaila Sarr scored again in stoppage time, reducing the deficit to one, but it was not enough for Senegal to earn a point.
MADE HISTORY
Haaland, who scored two goals in the match, increased his World Cup tally to 4. The Norwegian star thus made history as the sixth player to score more than one goal in each of his first two World Cup matches. Previously, Guillermo Stabile, Sandor Kocsis, Just Fontaine, Grzegorz Lato, and Harry Kane had achieved this feat.

In Group I, after France defeated Iraq 3-0, the race for the top spot remains for the final week. Norway will face France in the last group match for the lead.
