Following our report on Haberler.com that a restaurant in Fethiye was selling lahmacun for 1,450 lira and minced meat pide for 1,500 lira, the Ministry of Trade took action. The ministry announced that during inspections at the establishment, violations of regulations were found in 24 products and an administrative fine was imposed. It was also stated that files for 5 products would be sent to the Unfair Price Evaluation Board.
The menu prices of a restaurant operating in Fethiye, Muğla's world-renowned tourism district, made headlines across the country following a report by Haberler.com. The restaurant's sale of lahmacun for 1,450 lira, minced meat pide for 1,500 lira, and margarita pizza for 1,800 lira drew significant backlash on social media.
After the intense public reaction, the Ministry of Trade stepped in. The Ministry made an official statement regarding the inspection process, also using the news image from Haberler.com.
MINISTRY LAUNCHES INSPECTION
In the statement made by the Ministry of Trade, the following expressions were included: “Regarding the price practices of a restaurant operating in the Fethiye district of Muğla province that have come to public attention, our Ministry of Trade has promptly initiated the necessary review and inspection processes.
NON-COMPLIANCE DETECTED IN 24 PRODUCTS
In this context, an inspection was carried out at the aforementioned establishment on May 27, 2026, by our inspection teams from the Muğla Provincial Trade Directorate. As a result of the inspections, non-compliance with the provisions of the Law and the Price Tag Regulation was detected in 24 products, and an administrative fine was imposed on the establishment.
Additionally, necessary evaluations have been made regarding findings related to 5 products, and the file will be referred to the Unfair Price Evaluation Board for the imposition of additional penalties.

As citizens argued that price inspections in restaurants should be increased, the investigation launched by the Ministry of Trade drew attention.
