Following the death of Daveigh Chase, who became iconic for her role as Samara in 'The Ring', striking details about her legacy have emerged. With an estate worth approximately $400,000 and no will prepared, her mother has petitioned the court.
Details about the legacy of Daveigh Chase, who gained worldwide fame for her role as Samara in the 2002 film The Ring and for voicing Lilo in the animated series Lilo & Stitch, have emerged following her death. It is claimed that the actress, who passed away at the age of 35, left behind personal assets worth approximately $400,000 but did not prepare a will.
According to a report from the Los Angeles County Coroner's Office, Chase died on June 16, 2026, due to complications related to AIDS. The report stated that chronic polysubstance use was also a contributing factor to her death. Official records also indicated that in her final years, she lived as a homeless person and stayed in the Skid Row area of Los Angeles.
According to court documents, no real estate was registered under the actress's name, while assets worth approximately $400,000 were identified. Because she left no will, her mother, Cathy Chase, filed a petition with the Los Angeles Superior Court to manage the estate. The court is expected to review the petition on August 12.
Speaking after her daughter's death, Cathy Chase stated that she had been trying to save her for years and said the addiction process began with painkillers prescribed after a motorcycle accident in 2016. Responding to criticisms about her, Mother Chase said, "I never kicked my daughter out. As a mother, I never gave up on her and always hoped she would come back home one day."
