Hamas Political Bureau Member Khalil al-Hayya announced that they have accepted a new proposal for a ceasefire from Egypt and Qatar. Hayye stated that Israel did not participate in the ceasefire negotiations and that they are positively inclined towards all proposals for stopping the war, but he did not provide details about the accepted proposal.

Hamas announced that Egypt and Qatar presented them with a new proposal regarding Gaza two days ago and that they accepted it.

Hamas Political Bureau Member Khalil al-Hayya released a video message on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr. Hayya reminded that, as is customary for Israel, it avoided reaching an agreement to prolong the war and keep the government in power for as long as possible, and that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had previously delayed the agreement by a year for this purpose.

"NETANYAHU BLOCKED ATTEMPTS TO REACH AN AGREEMENT"

Hayya stated, "Netanyahu blocked the mediators' attempts to reach an agreement that foresaw a ceasefire and Israel's withdrawal from Gaza. However, with our determination, positivity, and flexibility, an agreement was reached on January 19, 2025." He noted that while Israel did not comply with the first phase of the agreement, Hamas fulfilled all its provisions.

Hayya conveyed that Israel not only did not sit at the negotiation table for the start of the second phase but also did not fully withdraw from the Philadelphi Corridor; rather, it resumed attacks in a more brutal manner and closed the border gates.

"WE ACCEPTED EGYPT AND QATAR'S PROPOSAL"

Stating that they only wanted the previously signed agreement to be adhered to and that they communicated this stance to the whole world, Hayya continued: "We approached all proposals positively and responsibly to stop the war. Two days ago, we received a proposal from the mediators Egypt and Qatar. We responded positively to this proposal and accepted it. We hope that Israel will not undermine this proposal and will not waste the efforts of the mediators."
