An official statement has been made regarding the claims that AK Party Municipal Council Member Rümeysa Eker in the Terme district of Samsun was not subjected to any judicial process and was protected due to her social media post. The statement noted that the allegations contain disinformation and stated that the legal process was immediately initiated following the complaint.
INVESTIGATION IMMEDIATELY LAUNCHED
In the statement, it was reported that an investigation was opened by the Terme Chief Public Prosecutor's Office following a complaint made on June 4, 2026, regarding the posts made by Rümeysa Eker on her social media account.
STATEMENT TAKEN, JUDICIAL CONTROL DECISION ISSUED
According to the statement, the suspect R.E. was summoned to the Terme Courthouse as a suspect on June 5, 2026, and her statement was taken. Eker was referred to the Duty Criminal Judgeship under the crime of "Denigrating a Segment of the Public Against Another Segment" as regulated in Article 216/2 of the Turkish Penal Code.
As a result of the evaluation by the judgeship, it was decided to impose judicial control measures including a "ban on traveling abroad" and "obligation to provide a signature" on Eker.
