It was alleged that 15-year-old Y.E.D., who worked at a barbershop in Niğde, was locked in a toilet together with his friend by the owner of the workplace and beaten with an iron rod and a broom handle, and was then forced to clean. The child, who had bruises on his body, and his family obtained a medical report of assault and filed a complaint. The detained suspect was released under judicial control conditions. The child's mother called for justice after the decision.

It was alleged that a 15-year-old barber’s apprentice was subjected to violence at his workplace in Niğde. According to the allegation, while the workplace owner beat the two children, he had another employee record what happened on a mobile phone.

CALLED THEM UPSTAIRS AND LOCKED THEM IN THE TOILET

Y.E.D., who works at a barber shop in the city, said that on Saturday he and his friend were called upstairs by the workplace owner. Y.E.D. said: “He locked us in the toilet. He said, ‘Don’t go anywhere, I’m coming.’ Then he came back with an iron rod from downstairs. Without saying anything, he started beating us. We told him we wanted to leave, but he didn’t allow it.”

“HE BEAT US AND HAD IT VIDEOTAPED”

Y.E.D., who alleged that the workplace owner called another employee after they reacted, said: “When we reacted, he called another employee and had him record a video. Then he brought a wooden broom handle from downstairs. He beat us and had it videotaped at the same time. In the end, he broke the broom handle on us.”

“HE MADE US CLEAN AFTER THE BEATING”

Y.E.D., who claimed they were locked in the toilet again after being beaten, said that the workplace owner opened the door after a while and sent them downstairs. Y.E.D. said: “After taking us downstairs, he made us clean for about half an hour to an hour. Then he sent us home. We said, ‘That’s enough beating us,’ but he didn’t listen to anything. He beat us with both an iron rod and a wooden broom handle. My back and legs were bruised. There is swelling on the back of my head, and the inside of my lip burst. I can’t move properly. I can’t lie on my back, and I’m in pain even while sitting.”

“THE INCIDENT HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THE WORKPLACE”

Y.E.D., saying that the issue cited as the reason for the violence had nothing to do with the workplace, said: “It was a private matter concerning my friend. It had nothing at all to do with the shop. It had reached our boss’s ear. He told us, ‘This is an elite place; I won’t let my name be dragged through the mud.’ He reduced us to this state to protect his own name.”

“WHEN HE TOOK OFF HIS CLOTHES, I SAW HIS BACK”

The boy’s mother, S.D., described how she could not reach her son and noticed the situation when he came home. S.D. said: “I couldn’t reach my son’s phone; I sent messages over and over but he didn’t answer. When he came home, he didn’t tell me anything. He only said, ‘Mom, I’m going to sleep.’ He went to his room, and I followed him. When he took off his clothes, I saw his back. I can’t describe what I felt at that moment. There were bruises on his legs and swelling on his head.”

A CT SCAN WAS PERFORMED OVER SUSPICION OF BRAIN BLEEDING

The mother stated that they took her son to the hospital immediately and said: “The doctors suspected a brain hemorrhage, so a CT scan was performed. They wanted him to stay in the hospital a while longer and performed another CT scan. We obtained our assault reports. Then we went to the Juvenile Branch Directorate and filed a complaint.”

“I WANT JUSTICE FOR MY CHILD”

The mother, stating that the suspect was released under judicial control conditions after being referred to the courthouse, reacted to the decision and called out to the authorities. S.D. said: “The person was brought before the court, but we learned that he was released shortly afterward. His being taken into custody had relieved me somewhat. I thought justice would be served. Since I have never raised a hand to my own child, I cannot bear someone else doing these things to him. For two days, no food has been cooked in our home; we cannot sleep. It devastates me that the person who did this is free while my child is suffering. I want justice. I want him to answer before the law for what he did to my child.”

Upon the family’s complaint, a judicial process was initiated regarding the incident.
