The heavy rain that affected Istanbul last week negatively impacted life. Many homes and businesses were flooded and vehicles were stranded. One of the places most affected by the rain was Eyüpsultan Kemerburgaz. Houses on Göksin Street in Kemerburgaz were flooded as a result of the stream overflowing, and animals in the area died.
"SUDDENLY THE HOUSE WAS FLOODED AND WE DIDN'T KNOW WHAT TO DO" Mihriban Örsmen, a citizen who stated that they experienced a great disaster, said, "We experienced a huge disaster that day. A very large flood came. We didn't understand what was happening anyway. I have three children aged 12, 13, and 14. Suddenly the house was flooded and we didn't know what to do. I had six cats. We evacuated them first. Thankfully, our neighbors' house had not been flooded yet. They reached us and came. First they evacuated our cats. Then my children got out. I was the last to get out. We probably didn't even stay in the house for more than 5 minutes. We threw ourselves out just like that. We got into our car. We had a lot of difficulty while driving our car. The roads, as you know, had taken on water too. We didn't even know how we went or how we got out. Believe me, we experienced an apocalypse. The children were very scared, screaming inside the house. I was already struggling a lot. We gathered them up and could only take our phones. I left the house in socks. The damage is very high. I am truly grateful that I was able to save my car. Because the car also went halfway into the water, and thank God I had a high vehicle and we were able to leave this place," she said.
"HORSES, COWS, SHEEP, A GREAT MANY ANIMALS DIED" Noting that many animals had died, Mihriban Örsmen said, "There are a lot of animals in the back, and they didn't even come to collect their dead bodies. What a pity, you know there is also a smell there. Here we are doing work with our own efforts. Horses, cows, sheep, a great many animals died."
