A 32-year-old woman injured in Antalya after being attacked with a knife by her ex-boyfriend, who was on leave from prison, sustained wounds to her head, back, and various parts of her body. She claimed that the knife broke in her back during the assault and that the suspect continued attacking her with the broken blade.

FILED MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS

The incident occurred on June 21, 2026, in the Fidanlık area of the Gazipaşa district. According to information obtained, Özge Çelik (32), a mother of one who had separated from her husband, had filed complaints at different times against her ex-boyfriend O.K., citing threats, insults, and assault. It was learned that during this process, Çelik had repeatedly obtained protective and restraining orders against the suspect.

ATTACKED WITH A KNIFE, CONTINUED EVEN AFTER IT BROKE

According to allegations, O.K., who was in prison in Samsun for another crime, came to Gazipaşa after being released on leave. A fight broke out between Çelik, who had gone to the Fidanlık area with her coworkers on the day of the incident, and O.K. As the argument escalated, it was alleged that O.K. attacked Çelik with a knife he had with him. The young woman, who received multiple blows to her head, back, and various parts of her body, called for help through the KADES app during the attack. It was alleged that the knife broke in the woman's back, and the suspect continued attacking with the remaining part of the broken knife, dragging the young woman by her hair.

While bystanders and Çelik's friends intervened, medical and police teams were dispatched to the scene upon notification. The injured woman was taken to the hospital by ambulance after initial medical intervention and placed under treatment. It was learned that Çelik suffered wounds on various parts of her body from the knife blows, and she had a muscle tear and loss of strength in her left arm. After the incident, the suspect was apprehended by security forces.

\"HE CALLED FROM PRISON AND CONTINUED HIS THREATS\"

Özge Çelik, who stated she broke up with her ex-boyfriend on January 19, said she made this decision due to what she experienced during the relationship. Çelik, who claimed she was assaulted on the day she announced her decision to break up, described her experiences as follows: 'I broke up with him on January 19. During our relationship, I saw that he had anger management issues and criminal records, so I decided to end the relationship. On January 19, when I told him this, I was assaulted and filed a complaint. Subsequently, the threats, insults, and slander towards my circle continued. Against all his moves, I only filed complaints. I have at least 5-6 complaints against him. I got a protection order. From January 19 onwards, I obtained a restraining order 6 times without a break, and most recently a 7th time.'

Çelik also alleged that the suspect threatened her relatives and claimed that even after the suspect entered prison, he continued to call her and her circle. She said, 'He was sending death threats about me to everyone in my circle and my family. He entered prison in Samsun in March, but he didn't stop even after that. He continued his threats to kill me by calling me, my workplace, and my friends from prison numbers.'

\"YOUR CHILD IS PLAYING WITH HIS GRANDFATHER, AND YOU ARE ON THE BALCONY\"

Çelik, who stated that she learned from a coworker that the suspect had come to Gazipaşa on leave before the incident, continued her words as follows: 'A mutual acquaintance told me that O.K. had been released from prison on leave and had come to Gazipaşa. Later, O.K. called my coworker and said, 'Right now, Özge's daughter is playing downstairs with her grandfather, and Özge is upstairs. If I wanted to do something bad, I would just do it. I have no ill intentions; I want to talk to you.' He also came across from my workplace. He had previously come to my workplace many times and caused incidents.'

\"I WAS LUCKY THAT THE KNIFE BROKE AND THE BLOWS DIDN'T HIT MY ORGANS\"

Çelik, who said she asked her friends to be with her on the day of the incident because she didn't feel safe, stated that the event unfolded quickly. Çelik, who recounted that O.K. came towards her and she told him to stay away, described the moment of the attack with these words:

'On the day of the incident, I had to call some people because I didn't feel safe. We weren't alone; there were 3-4 other people with us. Everything happened very suddenly. He came towards me. I told him not to come near me and tried to run. First, I took a punch to my stomach. Then he grabbed me by my hair and struck me in the back with a knife. I was lucky that the knife broke in my back on the third or fourth blow.'

Çelik stated that she started to run away with the intervention of those around her and pressed the KADES button, alleging that the suspect continued to come after her with the broken knife. 'When the people around me held him back, I ran and pressed KADES. I kept pressing KADES, but he continued coming at me with the small remaining piece of the broken knife. I couldn't run because I was injured and out of breath. He dragged me by my hair and struck me on the head and back with the knife for about 15 minutes. I was lucky that the knife had broken and the blows didn't hit my organs.'

\"IF THE KNIFE HADN'T BROKEN, I WOULDN'T HAVE HAD A CHANCE TO SURVIVE\"

Çelik, who said the suspect was pulled away from her by the intervention of people nearby, stated that she was taken to the hospital by ambulance. Çelik, expressing that her treatment process continues, said, 'The knife blows caused a muscle tear. Because of this, I still can't use my left arm fully and there is loss of strength in my arm. I will start physical therapy. There are scars on my face, back, and head. All the blows were inflicted with the remaining part of the broken knife. If that knife hadn't broken, I wouldn't have had a chance to survive. During the attack, he kept saying, 'I will kill you, you will die.''

\"FROM OUR PERSPECTIVE, IT IS ATTEMPTED MURDER\"

Yağmur Burçin Sayın Kurt, the lawyer for Özge Çelik on behalf of the Children and Women First Association, argued that the incident is being investigated as 'intentional injury' but the act constitutes attempted murder. Kurt said, 'We are facing an act of violence against a woman in the Gazipaşa district of Antalya on June 21, which is being considered as intentional injury but from our perspective, it is attempted murder. After a period of relationship between the parties, the suspect was imprisoned for another case. My client obtained a restraining order 6 times against this person. Because he constantly threatened her, her child, her life, and her family. Even though the suspect was in prison, my client's restraining orders continued.'"}"

"'TODAY IS THE BIG DAY' AND HUNG UP"

Lawyer Kurt, who claimed that the suspect was released on leave from prison on June 18, stated that no information was given to his client about this. Kurt alleged that the suspect called from a different number, said "Today is the big day," and hung up, adding, "My client goes to work normally and shares the situation with his employers. The suspect also calls his employers, saying he is very sorry and that my client should withdraw the complaint. His employers, with good intentions, suggest this to my client, but my client does not want to drop the complaint."

"THERE ARE APPROXIMATELY 30 KNIFE WOUNDS"

Arguing that the suspect having a knife at the time of the incident indicates the act was premeditated, Kurt continued: "When my client went to the area known as Fidanlık, this person had a knife with him. He stabs my client, and the knife breaks at the spine. Even after the knife breaks, the attack does not stop; my client is dragged by her hair. There are about 30 stab wounds. How can this be considered merely an injury? The fact that the person came with a knife shows, from our perspective, premeditation and intent to kill. In criminal law, the purpose or motive of the perpetrator is important. Since my client did not die, the act remained at the attempt stage. We firmly believe this crime is attempted murder."

"OBTAINED THE 7TH RESTRAINING ORDER"

Stating that Özge Çelik obtained a restraining order for the 7th time after the incident, Kurt said his client's fear continues. Kurt said, "Even though the person is in prison, my client's fears are intense. He still wants to or does contact her. Therefore, my client obtained another restraining order. My client has repeatedly told us that what happened has negatively affected her outlook on life and her will to live, and that she cannot be sufficiently productive for her child. We stand by our client and women."

"NOTIFICATION OF PROTECTION ORDERS IS CRITICAL FOR LIFE SAFETY"

Emphasizing that the full implementation of protective and restraining orders under Law No. 6284 is vital, Kurt said, "The implementation of restraining and protective orders, and the direct notification by relevant judicial authorities to individuals who have requested protective orders of developments such as release on leave from prison, is very important for life safety. Our case is currently in the investigation phase. We will follow the case to the end to ensure that, after the definitive medical report, the incident is considered attempted murder rather than injury."
