A striking detail has emerged about Ahmet Eşref Fakıbaba, who announced that he resigned from his party and his parliamentary seat after a disagreement with İYİ Party Chairman Müsavat Dervişoğlu. It has emerged that Fakıbaba, who supported the 'Terror-Free Türkiye' process, voted against the bill submitted to Parliament in August and prepared within the scope of the process.
HE HAD A DISAGREEMENT WITH DERVİŞOĞLU
Ahmet Eşref Fakıbaba, who left the AK Party in 2022 after holding various positions for about 20 years, joined the party when Meral Akşener, then İYİ Party Chairwoman, pinned the party badge on him. Fakıbaba entered the Grand National Assembly of Turkey as an Ankara MP in the 2023 general elections. Recently, Fakıbaba, who had a disagreement with İYİ Party Chairman Müsavat Dervişoğlu, especially over the 'Terror-Free Türkiye' process, announced to the public that he supported the process.
'I AM ON THE SIDE OF THE PEACE PROCESS'
In his statement regarding the disagreements within the party, Fakıbaba said:
'I expressed my opposition within the party. I have been a liberal person since my youth. They cannot wash blood with blood; they burn it with water. When I joined the İYİ Party, I did not say, 'How happy is he who says I am a Turk.' I said, 'I am a Turkish nationalist.' I believe that the Terror-Free Türkiye process will conclude positively. If it does not, the state will do what is necessary. I am on the side of the peace process.'
DERVİŞOĞLU CALLED FOR RESIGNATION, FAKIBABA LEFT
Müsavat Dervişoğlu, reacting to Fakıbaba's statements, called on him in a post on his social media account to resign from both İYİ Party membership and his parliamentary seat.
A few hours after this call, Fakıbaba announced his resignation decision with these words:
'In line with the request of our Chairman, Mr. Müsavat Dervişoğlu, I respectfully present to the public my resignation from İYİ Party membership and, due to my understanding of political ethics, from my duty as Ankara MP.'

After the resignation decision, a striking document regarding Fakıbaba's voting choice in Parliament came to the agenda.
It has emerged that Fakıbaba voted against the Bill on Strengthening National Solidarity and Social Integration, submitted to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey in August and prepared within the scope of the 'Terror-Free Türkiye' process.
