The football player Gylfi Sigurdsson, who plays for the Iceland National Team and Everton in the English Premier League, was arrested in 2021 on allegations of sexually abusing a child and spent more than a year in prison. CONTRACT TERMINATEDEverton, the club of Sigurdsson, terminated the contract of the Icelandic football player due to the sexual abuse charge. The 35-year-old player appeared in court and was released claiming insufficient evidence, allowing him to return to football. REINSTATED TO THE NATIONAL TEAMAfter all these incidents, Gylfi Sigurdsson was reinstated to the Iceland National Team squad by the current National Team Head Coach Age Hareide. The experienced player is currently playing for Valur Reykjavik, one of his country's teams.
