The incident took place on Afşin Bey Street in İnönü Neighborhood. Allegedly, 32-year-old İsmail Bayam, who is a drug addict, opened fire on the police officers who arrived at the scene upon notification. During the attack, police officer Ahmet Şahan was seriously injured and taken to the hospital, but despite all interventions, he could not be saved and became a martyr. The treatment of the other injured police officer, Arif Ay, continues at the hospital.

Many police teams were dispatched to the area and extensive security measures were taken. After about 4 hours of tense waiting at the scene, the Special Operations Police intervened and carried out an operation in the house. The armed attacker was killed and neutralized by breaking the door.

The 52-year-old mother, S.B., who was taken hostage, was injured as a result of her son's assault. The woman, who received initial treatment at the scene, was taken to the hospital by health teams.

Kastamonu Governor Meftun Dallı closely followed the developments at the scene while receiving information about the process from the Provincial Police Director Kayhan Ay.

It was learned that 38-year-old Martyr Police Officer Ahmet Şahan was registered in the population of Kozaklı district in Nevşehir, and it is expected that his funeral will be held in his hometown of Kozaklı tomorrow. It was reported that Şahan, who was martyred, was married and had two children.
