A striking result in the AA survey! Only 24% responded positively.

Anadolu Agency and ANAR conducted a survey regarding the agenda in Turkey. In response to the question, "How do you evaluate the process of a Turkey without terrorism?" 68.4% of participants answered, "I find it positive." The survey also included questions on topics such as a new constitution and earthquake preparedness. When asked, "How happy do you feel?" only 24.1% of participants responded, "I am happy."

The survey conducted in collaboration with the Anadolu Research Center (ARC), which is affiliated with Anadolu Agency, and the Ankara Social Research Center (ANAR), was carried out between May 9-15 using the "computer-assisted telephone survey" method with individuals living in 26 regions.

2069 PEOPLE PARTICIPATED

A total of 2,069 individuals were surveyed as part of the research. The margin of error for the study, which has a confidence level of 95%, was calculated to be 2.15% (plus-minus). The analysis of the study was weighted according to gender, age, education based on the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK), and party preference based on the results of the May 14, 2023 parliamentary elections and presidential elections.

SURVEY DETAILS

Of the participants in the survey, 50.3% were women and 49.7% were men. The age distribution of the study was planned as follows: 20.4% aged 35-44, 20.1% aged 25-34, 17.6% aged 45-54, 14.1% aged 18-24, 14% aged 65 and over, and 13.8% aged 55-64. Among the participants, 29.2% reported having a high school or equivalent education, 23.5% had a university or graduate degree, 22.1% had a middle school or primary education, and 19% were primary school graduates. In contrast, 3.5% of the participants reported being literate, while 2.7% stated they were illiterate.

SUPPORT FOR A TERROR-FREE TURKEY PROCESS AT 68.4%

In the research conducted in May, 68.4% of the participants responded positively to the question, "How do you evaluate the Terror-Free Turkey process?" The percentage of those who answered "I find it negative" was 28.1%. Meanwhile, 3.5% of the participants stated they had no opinion or did not respond.

56.3% WANT A NEW CONSTITUTION

In the public agenda research conducted in partnership with AA and ANAR, participants were also asked, "Do you think Turkey needs a new constitution?" 56.3% of the participants stated that there is a need for a new constitution, while 40.2% said there is no need. 1.1% of the participants remained undecided, while 2.4% indicated they had no opinion or did not wish to respond.

"THE PRIORITY ISSUE IS THE ECONOMY AND THE HIGH COST OF LIVING"

One of the questions posed to participants in the research was about the priority of the issues facing Turkey. 50.5% of those who answered the question, "What is the most important issue that needs to be resolved in Turkey?" stated that the most urgent issue to be addressed is "the economy and the high cost of living." This was followed by justice and judiciary at 13.8%. The percentage of those who identified migration as the most important issue to be resolved was only 1.1%.

The perception of income and welfare level was another area addressed in the research. Participants were asked, "Which group do you see yourself in terms of income and welfare level?" 34.7% of respondents identified themselves as "below average," 35.2% as "low," and 25.9% as "above average."

QUESTION ON THE DECLINE IN POPULATION GROWTH RATE

The research also examined the public perception of the decline in the population growth rate. Participants were asked, "Do you see the decline in the population growth rate as a threat?" It was found that 65.6% of the participants viewed the decline in the growth rate as a "threat to Turkey." 32.9% disagreed with the idea that the decline in the growth rate is seen as a threat. The percentage of those who said "I have no opinion" was 1.5%.

EARTHQUAKE PREPAREDNESS

Since the earthquake that occurred in Istanbul on April 23, 2025, took place close to the date the research was prepared, the opinions of participants regarding earthquake preparedness and related efforts were also measured.

In the study, 95.4% of participants stated that "infrastructure and strengthening efforts after the earthquake need to be carried out quickly."

The percentage of those who expressed that "municipalities need to invest more in disaster preparedness" was 87.8%.

57.9% of participants stated that they found the disaster management and aid process in Istanbul after the April 23, 2025 earthquake to be insufficient. The percentage of those who found disaster management and the measures taken after the earthquake to be inadequate was 72.4%.

The research found that 74.5% of participants knew "what to do during an earthquake and how to get to a safe area." The percentage of those who stated they had made "the necessary preparations against earthquakes" in their homes was 46.2%, while 35.1% reported having made preparations for basic needs such as food and water for before and after the earthquake.

The percentage of those who expressed how to go to a safe place with their family after the earthquake was determined to be 58.5%.

ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE WAS ALSO ASKED

The research measured the rate of artificial intelligence usage among citizens in daily life. It was found that 57.7% of participants had never used artificial intelligence, while 28% used it occasionally. The percentage of those who stated they used it frequently was 13%, and the percentage of those who expressed they had no opinion was 1.3%.

ONLY 24.1% ARE HAPPY

Participants were also asked, "How happy do you feel when you evaluate the overall state of your life?" 36.3% of participants chose the response "I feel neither happy nor unhappy." In contrast, 24.1% stated "I am happy," while 15.2% said "I feel unhappy." The percentage of those who said they "feel very happy" was 10.4%.

EVERYONE IS UNHAPPY WITH DAYTIME PROGRAMS

Among the participants who were asked about their views on daytime programs broadcast on television channels, 77.3% expressed that they found them "harmful." Those who found them harmful also noted that these programs should be regulated. In contrast, the percentage of those who said they "enjoy and spend time" on these programs was determined to be 12%.
