When 43-year-old Ercan Gündemur felt unwell in Istanbul's Avcılar district, he entered a public restroom owned by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality. While washing his face at the sink, he collapsed and fell to the ground. Despite all interventions by health teams who arrived at the scene upon notification, Gündemur lost his life, and his body was laid to rest in Esenyurt after autopsy procedures.
43-year-old Ercan Gündemur, feeling unwell in Avcılar, Istanbul, entered a public restroom belonging to the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality. While washing his face at the sink, he suddenly collapsed and fell to the ground. Despite all interventions by medical teams, Gündemur could not be saved and died.
The incident occurred on the evening of July 10 at a public restroom owned by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IBB) located on İskele Street in the Ambarlı neighborhood of Avcılar district.
According to reports, 43-year-old Ercan Gündemur, feeling unwell, entered the public restroom and attempted to wash his hands and face at the sink.
COLLAPSED AND FELL TO THE GROUND AT THE SINK
At that moment, Gündemur suddenly fell ill and collapsed to the floor. Citizens who noticed the situation reported it to the 112 Emergency Call Center. Upon the report, medical and police teams were dispatched to the scene.
COULD NOT BE SAVED DESPITE INTERVENTIONS
It was determined that Ercan Gündemur lost his life despite all interventions by medical teams at the scene. Upon orders from the public prosecutor, teams from the Avcılar District Police Department conducted an investigation at the scene. Gündemur's body was taken to the Forensic Medicine Institute morgue for autopsy after the investigation.
BID FAREWELL IN ESENYURT
After the autopsy procedures were completed, Ercan Gündemur's body was handed over to his family and laid to rest following a ceremony held at the Erenler Cemevi in Esenyurt.
