In the Osmangazi district of Bursa, 31-year-old Zafer Güngür stabbed and killed his wife Müjde Güngür (29), the mother of his two children, in front of their 10-year-old son after she told him she wanted a divorce. The suspect, who was apprehended with the murder weapon, gave a chilling statement.
THE ARGUMENT QUICKLY TURNED INTO A FIGHT
The incident occurred yesterday around 12:00 PM in a six-story building in the Güneştepe neighborhood of Osmangazi. According to available information, an argument broke out between Zafer Güngür, a plumber, and his wife Müjde Güngür for an unknown reason. When the argument escalated into a fight, Zafer Güngür took a bread knife from the kitchen and attacked his wife.
STABBED IN FRONT OF THEIR 10-YEAR-OLD SON
The enraged husband stabbed his wife in the chest in front of their 10-year-old son. Müjde Güngür collapsed in a pool of blood from a single stab wound, while the suspect fled the scene. Upon hearing the noises from the apartment, neighbors alerted emergency health services and the police.
HEALTH TEAMS DELIVERED THE TRAGIC NEWS
Initial checks by health teams at the scene confirmed that Müjde Güngür, the mother of two, had lost her life. The young woman's body was taken to the Bursa Forensic Medicine Institute morgue for autopsy following the public prosecutor's onsite investigation.
APPREHENDED WITH THE MURDER WEAPON
Following the murder, teams from the Provincial Police Department's Public Order Branch Murder Bureau launched an extensive investigation to capture the fleeing suspect. Security forces, who had blocked escape routes, quickly apprehended Zafer Güngür in a firm grip along with the knife used in the crime and took him into custody.

It was learned that the murder suspect Zafer Güngür confessed to the crime in his statement at the police station. Stating that they had returned from their hometown Muş, where they went for the holiday, three days earlier, the suspect said the following:
"We argued at home in the morning. As I was about to leave the house, she said she would divorce me and called her family on the phone. We started arguing again. I got angry, took the bread knife from the kitchen, and stabbed her. I closed the door and left, then I was caught."
HER BODY WAS SENT TO HER HOMETOWN
While the suspect, whose procedures at the police station continue, is expected to be referred to the courthouse, Müjde Güngür's body, after the completion of the autopsy at the Bursa Forensic Medicine Institute, was sent to her hometown Muş for burial. A wide-ranging investigation into the incident is ongoing.
