The incident that occurred in Antalya during the night froze the blood of those watching. Physical education teacher Gürol Güven lost his life after being run over by a car while lying unconscious in the middle of the road. As those moments were captured second by second on a mobile phone camera, the driver who fled after the accident was caught thanks to the meticulous work of the police teams.
A dispute broke out between physical education teacher Gürol Güven and a woman believed to be his wife for an unknown reason on Barış Manço Boulevard in the Kepez district of Antalya. After the argument, the woman, who did not allow Güven into her vehicle, attempted to leave the scene in a car with an unidentifiable license plate. While trying to get into the vehicle, Gürol Güven lost his balance and fell to the ground, becoming unconscious.
DRIVER PASSED OVER THE TEACHER LYING UNCONSCIOUS ON THE GROUND
Citizens who heard the sounds of the argument and saw a person lying motionless on the ground reported the situation to the 112 Emergency Call Center, and health teams were dispatched to the scene. When the health teams arrived at the given address, a white vehicle with an unidentifiable license plate passed over Gürol Güven, who was lying motionless on the ground, as it approached the scene from the opposite lane.
DIED IN THE HOSPITAL
Immediately after the accident, Güven, who received first aid at the scene from the health teams that arrived, could not be saved despite all interventions at Antalya City Hospital.
THE DRIVER OF THE VEHICLE WAS CAUGHT
While Güven's lifeless body was taken to the Antalya Forensic Medicine Institute morgue, the teams from the Kepez Crime Prevention and Investigation Bureau initiated efforts to capture the driver who fled the scene after the incident. Police teams examining the security cameras in the area identified the person who fled the scene after the accident as Mehmet C. Mehmet C., who was caught and detained yesterday, was taken to the police station for questioning. After his procedures, Mehmet C. was referred to the courthouse on charges of 'causing death by negligence.'
