Ali K., a 44-year-old man claiming he had not received his salary in Antalya, set fire to the workplace where he worked as a night watchman by pouring thinner. The fire was extinguished before it could spread, thanks to the intervention of the fire department, and Ali K. was subdued. Ali K. stated, "My brother Okan is gone. I will burn this place completely. I will set myself on fire too. He gave me bread with my disabled leg. After my brother Okan's death, they made me work here for another month. They didn't send my money. I am going through difficult times."
In the Yenigöl neighborhood of Muratpaşa district in Antalya, terrifying moments were experienced yesterday around 6:00 PM at a workplace where 3D concrete wall tiles are made.
SET FIRE TO THE WORKPLACE AFTER NOT RECEIVING HIS SALARY
Ali K. (44), who works as a night watchman, claimed that he would set fire to the workplace by pouring thinner because he had not received his accumulated salary of 50,000-60,000 TL. The employees of the workplace and those who came from the surroundings tried to convince Ali K. During this time, Ali K. set fire to the area where he poured the thinner, preventing anyone from approaching him.
POLICE TRIED TO CONVINCE HIM
Upon notification, police, fire brigade, and medical teams were dispatched to the address. The Yunus police, affiliated with the Muratpaşa Crime Prevention and Investigation Bureau and Motorized Police Teams, arrived at the scene shortly and tried to convince Ali K. to leave the workplace. Taking advantage of a moment of distraction, the police team subdued Ali K. While Ali K. was handcuffed and taken out of the workplace, the fire brigade extinguished the burning spots. Ali K., who posed difficulties for the teams, was calmed down with difficulty.
"I WILL BURN THIS PLACE COMPLETELY, I WILL BURN MYSELF TOO"
In response to the police's question, 'Why did you set fire to the workplace?', Ali K. said, "I will burn myself, you didn't let me. My brother Okan is gone. I will burn this place completely. I will burn myself too. He gave me bread with my disabled leg. He provided me with a place to sleep. After my brother Okan's death, they made me work here for another month. They didn't send my money. I am going through difficult conditions. I will burn this place again; this was just a warning. They should close the account and send me away from here. I want to leave; I don't want to stay with this psychology," he said. Ali K. was taken to the police station.
