In Avcılar, a 17-year-old individual opened fire with an automatic rifle on two hotels that refused to pay him protection money in the early morning hours. The assailant fled the scene and, after changing his clothes in a building, boarded a bus. The suspect was apprehended and arrested at the house where he was hiding.
In the Cihangir neighborhood of the Avcılar district in Istanbul, a person allegedly demanded protection money from two hotels located across from each other on the same street. After receiving a negative response, the suspect opened fire with a gun at both hotels at 4:00 AM. The suspect then fled the scene on foot.
CHANGED CLOTHES AND TOOK THE METROBÜS
Police teams initiated an investigation related to the incident and examined the camera recordings in the area one by one. As a result of the examinations, it was determined that the attacker was a single individual who, after fleeing the scene, entered a nearby building, changed clothes, and then exited. Used clothing and the weapon used in the attack were found in the stairwell of the building the attacker exited. After changing clothes, the attacker was found to have gone to the nearby Cihangir-University Metrobüs Stop and escaped by metrobüs.
17-YEAR-OLD SUSPECT ARRESTED
In the examination, it was determined that the weapon used in the attack was an automatic rifle known as an "Uzi." Detectives from the Public Order Bureau identified the suspect, 17-year-old E.Y., through fingerprints and security camera footage, and located the house where he was hiding, leading to his arrest. The suspect was sent to the duty court and arrested.
