MASAK responded to the claims made by the CHP Chairman Özgür Özel. In its statement, MASAK said, "The reports prepared as a result of analysis work stemming from requests communicated by the prosecutor's office are completed entirely within a technical process, without being presented to the knowledge or approval of any authority outside the Presidency, and under the supervision and oversight of the management levels of the Presidency, directly for the requesting prosecutor."
MASAK stated that there is a need to inform the public again regarding the baseless accusations that are systematically made to mislead the public and undermine the institution in response to the claims made by CHP Leader Özgür Özel.
The Financial Crimes Investigation Board (MASAK) Presidency made a statement regarding the allegations of CHP Chairman Özgür Özel.
"ACCUSATIONS AIMED AT UNDERMINING THE INSTITUTION"
In the statement, it was emphasized that there is a need to inform the public again regarding the baseless accusations that are systematically made to mislead the public and undermine the institution, stating, "The reports prepared as a result of the analysis studies stemming from the requests communicated by the prosecutor's office are completed entirely within a technical process, without being presented to the knowledge or approval of any authority outside the Presidency, and are directly submitted to the requesting prosecutor's office under the supervision and control of the management levels of the Presidency."
"MASAK REPORTS ARE AT THE DISCRETION OF THE JUDICIARY"
In the statement, which pointed out that there is no involvement of the Ministry's management authorities in this process, the following was noted:
"The fact that they are prepared by authorized expert assistants according to the legislation does not weaken the legal and competency aspects of the nature of the reports prepared. All MASAK reports are based on financial data obtained from other institutions and organizations. Whether the data in MASAK reports constitutes any crime is always at the discretion of the judicial authorities. The fight against financial crimes is very important for our country and our nation, and MASAK carries out its work meticulously within the framework of the authority granted by the laws."
ÖZGÜR ÖZEL'S ALLEGATIONS
Speaking at the CHP's 31st Extraordinary Congress, CHP leader Özgür Özel made allegations regarding Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek, stating that Şimşek pressured the MASAK report prepared for the investigation against İBB, saying, "They ask the TÜSİAD executives, who have a travel ban abroad, what crime they have committed at the Euro Chambres invitation; they say they criticized the government. Mehmet Şimşek is trying to convince those people to find money. Mehmet Şimşek is a person who appears to be democratic in the world but is actually the financial arm of the junta in Turkey. They could not find an expert or senior person to sign the report at MASAK. Under the direct pressure of Mehmet Şimşek, they made an assistant expert sign it," he stated.
