In Ankara, Sinem T., who was severely injured by her ex-husband, received a prison sentence for not showing her children. She tearfully said goodbye to her children and entered prison. Sinem T., who works at a beauty center, divorced Sinan Özçelik, the father of her two children, about 2 years ago due to severe incompatibility. Özçelik stabbed Sinem T., whom he met to deliver their children, claiming that she did not take good care of them and had relationships with other men. Sinem T. was severely injured with 7 stab wounds and spent 10 days in intensive care before recovering with treatment. Sinan Özçelik, who was arrested, was released 9 months after the incident at the 3rd hearing in Ankara 23rd Heavy Penal Court, where he was tried for "attempted murder with intent", "insult", and "threat" crimes. Özçelik was arrested again after an appeal. "I AM EXPERIENCING BOTH OPPRESSION AND IMPRISONMENT" Sinem T. was sentenced to 3 days in prison by Ankara 30th Family Court upon the complaint that her ex-husband did not show their 11 and 13-year-old daughters. Sinem T.'s objection, claiming that her ex-husband made the complaint while she was taking her children to her family in Gebze for a vacation, was rejected by the 1st Family Court. Emotional moments were experienced as Sinem T. said goodbye to her children. Sinem T. said, "I am being stabbed in front of my children's eyes, I am experiencing both oppression and imprisonment. If this is the decision, I have to comply with justice. Now my father will take care of my children, and they won't be able to go to school for 3 days. I am sorry for my children, they will be the victims. The 3-day prison sentence was really unjust. Because I am a mother who fights with my children, takes care of them. I did not commit a crime. I did not hurt anyone or do any harm to anyone. My record is clean. I do not consider this as justice. My children will not be able to go to school either. I am very sorry not for myself but for my children," she said. "I WAS STABBED IN FRONT OF MY CHILDREN'S EYES" Sinem T. stated that the police told her that they would have to come and take her from her house if she did not surrender, and she decided to surrender to the courthouse herself. "Because I did not want to be arrested, handcuffed, and taken away in front of my children's eyes. I do not want to subject my children to this trauma. We have already experienced many traumas psychologically for years. I was stabbed in front of their eyes. I am receiving a sentence because I did not show my children to such a monster, that is, because I protected my children. But I did not have a situation of not showing my children. I had taken them to my family for a vacation and had permission for it. Now I will think about my children for 3 days; 'What happened to them, will they fall behind in school, what will they do, will they be scared?' My only concern is my children. We will overcome these days when I am released," she said. CONTINUATION OF DETENTION DECIDED After saying goodbye to her children, Sinem T. surrendered to the police at the courthouse and entered prison. Meanwhile, the trial of the detained defendant Sinan Özçelik continued at Ankara 23rd Heavy Penal Court. In the 4th hearing on September 13, the court rejected the defendant's and his lawyer's request for release and decided to continue the detention.
