In the İzmit district of Kocaeli, a suspect allegedly out on holiday leave from prison stabbed three people in the same house and fled. While the injured were taken to the hospital, police, AFAD, and fire brigade teams searched for the suspect overnight with thermal drone support. The suspect was caught and detained today. It was learned that the incident was captured on security camera.
The knife attack in Kocaeli's İzmit district caused panic. A person, allegedly released from prison for the holiday, stabbed 3 people in the same house and fled the scene.
STABBED 3 PEOPLE AT HOME
The incident occurred at night in the Cedit neighborhood. According to claims, an argument broke out at home for an unknown reason. As the argument escalated, the individual attacked 3 people at home with a knife.
Nearby citizens immediately reported the situation to health and police teams for the injured, who were covered in blood.
INJURED HOSPITALIZED
Health teams arriving at the scene provided first aid and then took the 3 injured to Kocaeli City Hospital. It was learned that the injured are undergoing treatment.
Police teams launched a large-scale operation to capture the attacker who fled after the incident.
THERMAL DRONE-SUPPORTED SEARCH
Based on the possibility that the suspect had hidden in the construction site of the Cedit urban transformation project in the Dereboğazı area, AFAD and fire department teams were dispatched to the region.
Searches were conducted throughout the night in the dangerous area with cliffs and deep gaps. AFAD teams scanned the area from the air using thermal drones to track in the dark.
However, the suspect could not be reached during the night operations.
CAPTURED TODAY
As a result of the ongoing efforts by police teams, the fleeing suspect was captured and taken into custody today. It was learned that judicial proceedings have been initiated against the suspect.
