Fehmi Elibol, who climbed steep cliffs to collect cave honey in the Kemah district of Erzincan, was found unconscious after hours of search and rescue efforts. Elibol, who was found to have fractures in various parts of his body, was difficultly brought down from the mountain and taken to the hospital.
Yesterday afternoon, Fehmi Elibol set out to collect natural honey made by bees in a cave in the mountainous area near the village of Eriç, which is part of the Kemah district. After a long time without news from him, the villagers became worried. A group of villagers, led by the village head Fethi Bülbül, started a search operation on foot despite the difficult terrain conditions.
FOUND AFTER HOURS OF SEARCHING
After approximately 3-4 hours of searching, Elibol was found unconscious in a nearby area to the cave. Emergency services and gendarmerie teams were immediately notified. To enable the health teams to reach the scene, Elibol was transported on a stretcher for about 2 hours through darkness and rough terrain to reach the ambulance.
HIS CONDITION IS SERIOUS
After his initial treatment at Kemah State Hospital, Elibol was later referred to Erzincan Mengücek Gazi Training and Research Hospital. Following evaluations there, the elderly man, whose condition was serious, was transferred to an advanced hospital in Erzurum. During the examinations, it was determined that Elibol had sustained severe damage to his spine, arms, hip, and lungs.
