A knife attack at a luxury residential complex in Hong Kong caused panic in the morning hours. The 22-year-old suspect, who came out bare-chested and barefoot with a knife in his hand, first tried to attack a pedestrian, then got into a scuffle with a security guard. The suspect, who stabbed a domestic worker in the back while fleeing, was subdued by the intervention of those around him.
WRESTLED WITH THE SECURITY GUARD
The incident occurred around 09:00 on Monday at Baguio Villa. It was reported that the 22-year-old suspect was walking around the complex bare-chested and barefoot, wearing only sweatpants and holding a knife. It was stated that the suspect first attacked a male pedestrian with the knife, and the person managed to escape the attack.
Then, a scuffle broke out between the suspect, who turned towards a security guard, and the guard. As other security guards who witnessed the incident came to the area to intervene, the attacker tried to flee this time.
STABBED A FOREIGN DOMESTIC WORKER IN THE BACK
It was reported that during the scuffle, the suspect moved away from the area and attacked a foreign female passerby, stabbing her in the back. According to information in the Hong Kong press, the 61-year-old foreign woman was injured in the neck and back areas. It was also reported that a security guard was injured during the incident.
The suspect, subdued by the intervention of security guards and nearby people, was taken into custody by police teams who arrived at the scene. The two injured people were taken to the hospital for treatment.
INJURED CAT FOUND IN HIS HOME
The police search of the suspect's home, however, revealed one of the most striking details of the incident. An injured cat with a wound to its right ear was found in the apartment. The injured cat was handed over to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) for treatment.
While the police are focusing on the possibility that the cat may have been injured before the attack, it is assessed that the suspect attacked people around him after leaving his home.
MOMENTS OF HORROR ON CAMERA
The events during the attack were recorded by security cameras and people in the vicinity. The footage shows the bare-chested and barefoot suspect walking through the complex with a knife in his hand and security guards trying to intervene and subdue him.
Following the incident, Baguio Villa residents experienced great fear, while the police continue their investigation to determine the reason for the attack. It has not yet been clarified why the suspect carried out the attack.
