Necla Uygur, one of the master names of Turkish theater, was laid to rest after a funeral ceremony held in Istanbul. The statement of veteran actor Müjdat Gezen, who attended the ceremony at Teşvikiye Mosque, drew attention. Gezen, who said they had agreed to take the stage together with Necla Uygur, recounted his unrealized plans for the first time, saying, "She was a keepsake of my brother Nejat. I had received a promise from her to play together... She didn't keep her promise."
Müjdat Gezen did not leave Necla Uygur, who passed away, alone on her final journey. Speaking at the funeral ceremony, the veteran artist announced that he and Necla Uygur had planned to appear together on the theater stage.
NECLA UYGUR SENT OFF ON HER FINAL JOURNEY
Necla Uygur, the wife of Nejat Uygur, one of the unforgettable names of Turkish theater, was sent off on her final journey with a funeral ceremony held in Istanbul. After the afternoon prayer at Teşvikiye Mosque in Şişli, a funeral prayer was performed for Necla Uygur. At the ceremony, relatives of the Uygur family and figures from the art world came together. Necla Uygur's sons Süha, Süheyl, and Behzat Uygur received condolences at the mosque. After the funeral prayer, Necla Uygur's body was taken to Feriköy Cemetery and buried.
MÜJDAT GEZEN'S MOVING STATEMENT AT THE FUNERAL
One of those who did not leave Necla Uygur alone on her final journey was the veteran theater artist Müjdat Gezen. Answering questions from members of the press at the funeral ceremony, Gezen remembered Necla Uygur together with her husband Nejat Uygur, who passed away years ago. Gezen's statement also revealed a theater plan between the two artists that had not previously been made public. The veteran artist explained that he had received a promise from Necla Uygur to appear on stage together, but this wish of his did not come true.

Müjdat Gezen described the stage plan that he and Necla Uygur could not realize with these words: "She was my brother Nejat's keepsake. I had received a promise from her to perform together... She did not keep her word."
