In the Uskumruköy area of the Northern Marmara Motorway, 3 siblings aged 4, 11, and 13, who were in a light commercial vehicle that collided with a cargo truck, lost their lives. 5 people, including the mother and father, were injured and continue to receive treatment in the hospital. The truck driver, Emrullah A., was taken into custody and said in his initial statement, 'I didn't see it, I pressed the brake but couldn't stop.' It was determined that Yusuf İçen (4), Mehmet Ali İçen (11), and Ecrin İçen (13), who lost their lives in a light commercial vehicle that collided with a freight truck in Uskumruköy on the Northern Marmara Highway in Sarıyer, were siblings. It was learned that the children's mother, Sözdar İçen (30), and father, Yasin İçen (38), who were seriously injured in the accident, along with 3 other people, continue to receive treatment in the hospital. It was learned that the 27-year-old truck driver, Emrullah A., who was taken into custody, said in his initial statement to the gendarmerie, "I didn't see it, I pressed the brake but couldn't stop." After his procedures, the driver was referred to the courthouse.
THERE WERE 8 PEOPLE IN THE VEHICLE
The accident occurred on Sunday, August 16, at around 12:45, on the Northern Marmara Highway at the Uskumruköy location, in the direction of Edirne. According to the information obtained, the freight truck with license plate 06 ESG 182, driven by Emrullah A., proceeding on the highway, collided with a light commercial vehicle with license plate 34 PRV 011, which had 8 people inside, for an as-yet-unknown reason. Due to the impact, the light commercial vehicle swerved, and those inside were injured. Upon the notification of those around, fire brigade, gendarmerie, and medical teams were dispatched to the scene.
IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE DECEASED CHILDREN WERE SIBLINGS
In the checks carried out by the medical teams, it was determined that Yusuf İçen, Mehmet Ali İçen, and Ecrin İçen, who were in the light commercial vehicle, had lost their lives. In the accident, the mother Sözdar İçen and father Yasin İçen of the 3 siblings were seriously injured. Ruken K. (15), Hacer K. (23), and Şehmuz K. (26), who were in the same vehicle, were taken to Başakşehir Çam and Sakura City Hospital and Arnavutköy State Hospital by ambulances after their initial interventions at the scene and were taken under treatment.

Following the accident, the truck driver, Emrullah A., was taken into custody by the gendarmerie teams. It was learned that Emrullah A. said in his initial statement to the gendarmerie, "I didn't see it, I pressed the brake but couldn't stop." While some lanes of the highway were closed to traffic due to the accident, long vehicle queues formed on the road. Gendarmerie teams took security measures around the area.
