AREAS WERE FLOODED
The heavy rain and storm were felt intensely in the districts of Buca, Konak, Karabağlar, and Bornova. Due to the flood that occurred in the Vali Rahmi Bey and Yaylacık neighborhoods of Buca district, parked vehicles were submerged, while drivers on the road were stranded. It was reported that a motorcyclist swept away by the flood was injured, and a pedestrian caught in the current was rescued by police intervention.
ROADS TURNED INTO PONDS
In the Konak district, large water accumulations formed on main arteries due to the overflow of manholes. The floodwaters that also affected the Kemalpaşa district caused material damage by sweeping away cars. While traffic flow came to a standstill in some areas of the city, both drivers and pedestrians struggled to move forward.
A lightning strike at the Halkapınar Pump Station caused a water outage in a large part of the city. Due to the malfunction, water was cut off in the districts of Buca, Bornova, Karşıyaka, and Çiğli, while water supply was resumed in the districts of Karabağlar, Gaziemir, Konak, and Balçova in the evening hours. Teams are continuing evacuation and repair works throughout the city.
