U.S. President Donald Trump signed a presidential decree aimed at more effectively combating drug and substance addiction. Noting that 300,000 people die each year in the country due to drug and alcohol addiction, Trump stated that the new initiative would be referred to as the "Great American Recovery Initiative."
US President Trump stated during a signing ceremony at the White House that thousands of people lose their lives each year in his country due to such addictions, and therefore, they wanted to take stronger initiatives.
"I AM SIGNING A HISTORIC EXECUTIVE ORDER"
Trump said, "Today, I am signing a historic presidential executive order to combat the scourge of addiction and substance abuse," and noted that the new initiative would be referred to as the "Great American Recovery Initiative."
300,000 PEOPLE DIE EVERY YEAR
Pointing out that drug and substance addiction causes heavy costs across the US, Trump emphasized that approximately 300,000 people lose their lives each year due to drug and alcohol addiction, and the actual number could be much higher.
ALL AGENCIES WILL WORK IN COORDINATION
The US President indicated that with the new initiative, all federal agencies would work together more effectively in coordination on this issue.
