Child psychiatrist Prof. Dr. Veysi Çeri claimed that his 7-year-old child is being forcibly held in Lithuania by the mother and the mother's spouse. Stating that his child started taking antidepressants and schizophrenia medication due to the violence they experienced, Çeri appealed to authorities for help, saying, 'The child says they are being subjected to violence, exhibits behavioral problems, and on top of that, they have been prescribed two psychiatric medications. What more is needed to be convinced that they are being poorly treated there? Does the child have to die for it to be taken seriously?'
Child psychiatrist Prof. Dr. Veysi Çeri claimed that his 7-year-old son was forcibly held by his mother and her spouse in Lithuania and asked authorities for help. Stating that his son experienced violence there and started using psychiatric drugs due to this situation, Çeri expressed concern for his son's safety.
"MY 7-YEAR-OLD SON IS BEING ABUSED BY HIS MOTHER AND HER SPOUSE IN LITHUANIA"
The grieving father, rebelling against the situation, made a statement on his social media account: "As I shared before with documents, my innocent 7-year-old son is being abused by his mother and her husband in Lithuania. For a long time, not being able to hug him as a father, hear his voice, or wipe his tears has been hard for me, but I am not the important one here.
"LITHUANIAN AUTHORITIES DON'T LIFT A FINGER"
Because my son, his eyes clouded with revenge and hatred, cannot even communicate by phone with any of his friends or loved ones here due to the obstruction of his abusive mother. And despite my son repeatedly stating that he is being abused, the authorities there don't lift a finger, thus allowing this violence to increase.
"MY SON WAS PRESCRIBED ANTIDEPRESSANTS AND SCHIZOPHRENIA MEDICATION"
Now I have learned that his small body and soul could no longer cope with the wounds of this violent environment, and psychiatrists there started him on an antidepressant called fluoxetine and a heavy schizophrenia medication called TIAPRID. The initiation of these heavy drugs is actually universal proof that my son, whom everyone who knows him in Turkey—from his teacher to his psychologist—calls sweet, happy, and smart, is having his psychology deteriorate day by day due to the violence and neglect in Lithuania, and that his delicate soul and body can no longer bear this and are sounding the alarm.
"MY SON COULD LOSE HIS LIFE"
Despite this, the authorities there, unlike our authorities who unjustly handed him over here, do not act out of a motive to protect their own citizens. As a child psychiatrist and a father, my heart burns with the pain of not being able to protect my child; I want to warn both Turkish and Lithuanian authorities that this situation now threatens his life, and if we do not stop the mother and her husband's behavior, my son could lose his life. I invite you all to raise your voices and take action to protect my little child!
"TAKE ACTION TO SAVE MY SON FROM THE DARKNESS"
Please think of this little child's innocent face and his fragile, all-alone heart, and take action to save him from this darkness. I have witnessed many times how the spirit of unity and solidarity in this platform has relieved pains of many injustices, and as someone who has proudly been a part of that, I now ask you to unite for my 7-year-old son. As a father whose physical contact has been unjustly blocked for 15 months and phone calls for 6 months, I have been unable to prevent my child's psychological deterioration. And I cannot stop my child's psychological and emotional decline day by day.
"DOES HE HAVE TO DIE?"
The child says he is being abused, exhibits behavioral problems, and on top of that, he is prescribed two psychiatric medications. What more is needed to be convinced that he is poorly cared for there? Does he have to die?
I do not want to seek justice for my child after he dies, like the valuable parents Nizamettin Kabaiş, Bedriye Doku, Yasemin Minguzzi, and Şaban Vatansever, for whom I tried to be a voice in this platform until today. I demand that those who took him from his paradise here protect him there and return him to his paradise here before he dies.
Please raise your voice for him to attain his most basic rights: love, security, and peace. Be a brother, sister, aunt, or uncle for my son; do not leave him alone there! Thank you endlessly for the smallest step and voice you will take now."
