In Kayseri, Dilek Şahin did not file a complaint against her mother, Güldane Şahin, who ran away with her fiancé, Cuma Doğan. While Dilek Şahin claimed that her fiancé had always beaten and threatened her, she stated that her mother had not subjected her to any violence.

New developments have emerged in the forbidden love scandal that Turkey has been talking about for days. In an incident in the Develi district of Kayseri, a mother and her disabled daughter's fiancé ran away together, and the parties appeared before the judge.

During the hearing held at the Develi 2nd Criminal Court of First Instance, the complainants Dilek Şahin (25) and her father Turan Şahin (52) were present along with their lawyers. The defendants Güldane Şahin (46) and Cuma Doğan (21) participated in the hearing via the Audio and Visual Information System from the prison where they are held. In their defense, the defendants Güldane Şahin and Cuma Doğan admitted to having a romantic relationship but denied the allegations.

The victim Dilek Şahin stated in her testimony that she got engaged to the defendant Cuma Doğan last year. She claimed that Doğan had always beaten and threatened her, while she expressed that the defendant's mother, Güldane Şahin, did not apply violence against her. Dilek Şahin stated that she had no knowledge of the theft allegation and mentioned that she was complaining about Cuma Doğan but not about her mother.

Complainant Turan Şahin claimed that the two defendants who ran away together stole 14 full gold coins, 1 bracelet, 19,500 dollars, and 35,000 lira from his house. Stating that the total value of these items was 1 million 226 thousand 900 lira, Şahin noted that his loss had not been compensated and expressed that he was complaining about the defendants.

PENALTIES HAVE BEEN DETERMINED

The prosecutor requested the punishment of both defendants for the crimes specified in the indictment in his opinion on the merits. When asked for their final words by the judge, the defendants claimed their innocence and requested their acquittal and release.

The court sentenced the defendant Güldane Şahin to 2 years and 6 months in prison for "threatening with multiple people" and 13 months and 15 days for "qualified simple injury," while the defendant Cuma Doğan received 2 years and 6 months for "threatening with multiple people" and 9 months for "qualified simple injury."

ACQUITTAL FOR THEFT

The court decided to acquit the two defendants of the "theft" charge due to lack of evidence and ruled for their continued detention.
