The AK Party submitted the candidacy application of the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly, Numan Kurtulmuş, for the election of the Speaker to the Parliament.

AK PARTY NOMINATED NUMAN KURTULMUŞ FOR THE SPEAKERSHIP
After the application, Güler, speaking to journalists, reminded that the candidacy process for the Speaker of the Assembly began on May 28, stating, "As the AK Party Group, we have submitted our petition to the Secretary General of the GNAT to nominate our Istanbul Deputy, our current Speaker of the Assembly, Prof. Dr. Numan Kurtulmuş, as the candidate for the Speaker of the Assembly for the remaining 3 years of the 28th Legislative Period with the signatures of all our deputies."
"ELECTIONS WILL BE COMPLETED ON JUNE 3"
Güler stated that the candidacy applications would end as of Sunday, in accordance with Article 94 of the Constitution and Article 10 of the GNAT Internal Regulations, and said that the elections for the Speaker of the Assembly would be completed on Tuesday, June 3.
HOW WILL THE WINNER BE DETERMINED IN THE ELECTION?
Reminding that a two-thirds majority is sought in the first two rounds and a simple majority in the third round of the Speaker of the Assembly elections, Güler explained that if the election does not take place in this voting, the candidate with the most votes among the two candidates with the highest votes will be elected as the Speaker of the Assembly.

Noting that Numan Kurtulmuş has performed an outstanding duty with his political experience, intellectual background, close cooperation with political party groups, and sincere and fair management style, Güler said, "On behalf of the AK Party Group, I thank our Speaker for the close, sincere cooperation and fair, solution-oriented management approach during this two-year period."
AK Party Group Chairman Güler stated that they would continue to work in close dialogue with Speaker Kurtulmuş during the remaining 3-year term, with a sincere and solution-oriented approach to serve the nation with all political party groups.

Touching on the efforts for a terrorism-free Turkey, Güler stated, "In the upcoming periods, our Assembly will be the center of an important mission, an important search for dialogue in reaching the goal of a terrorism-free Turkey. I would like to express that we will provide all kinds of support to the commissions or sub-commissions to be established under the leadership of our Speaker of the Assembly in reaching the goal of a terrorism-free Turkey and that we will contribute to the work at the highest level." AK Party Group Chairman Güler wished that the candidacy of Numan Kurtulmuş for the Speaker of the Assembly would be beneficial.
