In Kocaeli, Sümeyye M., who was heard as a witness in the trial of her ex-husband, claimed in court that Emrah Çeliksoy had sexually assaulted her in the past. After the hearing, Sümeyye M. attacked Çeliksoy with a knife in front of the courthouse, causing his death by injuring him in the heart. The woman, who was taken into custody, stated in her initial statement that she could not control her nerves due to what had happened.
In Kocaeli, Sümeyye M. (25) reportedly stated in her first statement to the police that she lost control of her nerves due to the events after accusing her ex-husband's legal opponent, Emrah Çeliksoy (35), of sexual assault during the hearing where she was heard as a witness, and then stabbed him in the heart, killing him upon exiting.
On July 31, 2025, in the Güneş Street of Kabaoğlu Neighborhood in İzmit district, Emrah Çeliksoy stabbed his friend A.F.Ö. during an argument at a gas station. Subsequently, A.F.Ö. fired a shotgun at Çeliksoy’s house. In the attack, Çeliksoy and three others were injured. A.F.Ö. was arrested as part of the investigation, while Çeliksoy was released. A case was filed against Emrah Çeliksoy for 'attempted murder' and against A.F.Ö. for 'injury.'
CLAIMED SHE WAS SEXUALLY ASSAULTED IN COURT
The hearing regarding the incident was held yesterday at the Kocaeli 8th High Criminal Court. During the hearing, the detained defendant A.F.Ö.'s ex-wife Sümeyye M. was heard as a witness. Sümeyye M. claimed that before marrying her ex-husband A.F.Ö., during their engagement period, they drank alcohol with Emrah Çeliksoy to share their troubles, and that Çeliksoy sexually assaulted her at the hotel they stayed in. She later stated that they reconciled and got married, and that Çeliksoy continued to send her messages occasionally after they got married, claiming that the events occurred after her husband saw one of these messages. Sümeyye M. expressed that they divorced due to the events that occurred, but they have two children and that her ex-husband continues to support her.
CLAIMED TO BE A VICTIM
Çeliksoy, who was given the floor during the hearing, denied the allegations against him. A.F.Ö. stated that he was a victim due to the incident and requested his release. The court panel decided to continue A.F.Ö.'s detention and postponed the hearing.
KILLED WITH A KNIFE IN FRONT OF THE COURTHOUSE
After leaving the courtroom, Sümeyye M. allegedly took a knife from a café across from the courthouse. At that moment, Sümeyye M. attacked Emrah Çeliksoy, who was in front of the courthouse, and stabbed him. Çeliksoy collapsed to the ground from the knife wound. Upon notification, health and police teams were dispatched to the scene. Çeliksoy, who was stabbed in the heart, was taken to the hospital after the first intervention by the health team. Çeliksoy, who was treated, lost his life.
After the incident, Sümeyye M. was detained by the police. It was learned that in her first statement to the police, she reiterated the sexual assault allegations she had mentioned in court, stating that she lost control of her nerves due to the events.
BURIED
After the autopsy procedures, Emrah Çeliksoy’s funeral was brought today to the Rahmiye Mosque in Kartepe district. After the funeral prayer performed following the noon prayer, Çeliksoy was buried in Rahmiye Cemetery.
