Last night, the teams of the Dudullu Police Station of the Ümraniye District Police Department worked to capture a suspect who had previously been caught for "motorcycle theft" and had escaped. In the operation, Y.E.Ç. was apprehended in the Ihlamurkuyu neighborhood. A scuffle occurred between the suspect and the police teams. During the scuffle, Police Officer Şeyda Yılmaz was seriously injured by gunfire from the suspect. Yılmaz, who was urgently taken into surgery, unfortunately could not be saved despite all interventions and became a martyr. IT WAS LEARNED THAT SHE HAD BEEN MARRIED FOR 1 YEARThe family home of the martyr in the Huzur neighborhood of Sivas city center was decorated with Turkish flags. It was learned that Şehit Yılmaz had started her duty about a year ago and had been married for one year. Additionally, it was reported that Yılmaz was preparing to go on leave the day after the incident to visit her parents in Sivas. Today, after the afternoon prayer, Yılmaz will be buried in the Upper Tekke Police Martyrs' Cemetery following the funeral prayer to be held at the Ay Yıldız Mosque in her hometown of Sivas. "SHE WAS SUPPOSED TO GO ON A 5-DAY LEAVE, BUT IT WASN'T MEANT TO BE"Mustafa Yaman, a neighbor in Sivas, stated that Yılmaz was going to take a 5-day leave the day after the incident, saying, "Their children were as good as their parents. May God have mercy on her, may her place be paradise. She was like our own child. She grew up in our hands. She had a normal life. The person who martyred our daughter is someone wanted for 26 crimes; how do judges or prosecutors let him go? How many more people will this man kill before they put him in prison? She was supposed to come on a 5-day leave, but it wasn't meant to be," he said.
