The leader of the MHP, Devlet Bahçeli, made headlines with his call, "If the isolation of the terrorist leader Abdullah Öcalan is lifted, let him come and speak at the DEM Party group meeting in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey and declare that the terror is over." While Bahçeli's statements received a green light from the DEM Party, a response also came from the imprisoned former co-chair of the HDP, Selahattin Demirtaş. "FIRST, RELEASE ME"In a message published through his lawyer, Demirtaş conditionally supported Bahçeli's call for "Öcalan." He stated that neither the state nor the AK Party had engaged in discussions with him during the new "solution process," expressing his readiness to take part. However, reminding of his imprisonment, Demirtaş said in his message, "I am ready to support the process. If you want to talk to me about a solution, first release me, and let's discuss this at the prison gate." Regarding the allegations of meetings with Kandil, Demirtaş included the following statements in his response: "The reconciliation between the state and the PKK does not provide a solution to the problem. All segments of society must be included in the process. If the process does not progress this way, societal peace cannot be achieved. The solution is achieved by involving the Kurds in the state."
