Former Ankara MP Nedim Yamalı, who resigned from the Future Party, joined the AK Party yesterday with the badge personally pinned by President Erdoğan. Following Yamalı's resignation, the number of MPs in the Future Party dropped to 9, while the Saadet Party group, which had 20 MPs, fell to 19 and lost its majority to form a group. "OUR CONTRIBUTION TO CHP WAS SIGNIFICANT"After his transition to the AK Party, Yamalı answered questions from Sinan Burhan, the General Editor of the Millet News Agency, and made striking evaluations. Stating that "CHP managed to elect MPs in Rize and Düzce thanks to us," Nedim Yamalı said, "We were not elected thanks to CHP. Those who say this do not understand mathematics. CHP was receiving 2-3% of the votes in the East and Southeast regions. Thanks to us, this rate increased to 8%. CHP could not get votes in conservative provinces; it received votes thanks to us. CHP's vote increased from 21% to 25%. Our contribution to CHP was significant. However, the biggest mistake here is to view us only as a number. We brought together broad segments of the public with CHP. This was mutually beneficial. Saying 'you were elected thanks to CHP' is not correct; 50 years later, CHP managed to elect MPs in Rize and Düzce thanks to us," he stated. WHY DID HE RESIGN?Responding to the question "Why did you resign from the Future Party?", Yamalı said, "We established a new party; we entered the elections as the DEVA Party, Future Party, and other parties. However, we did not receive the votes we wanted in the elections. The public did not show favor. We should not insist anymore. A lack of solutions in politics is not a solution. Our President is a leader who stands by the oppressed. The events in Syria and what is happening in Russia are evident. A strong Turkey is needed. Therefore, I believe we should stand by our President. The voters did not give us a mandate," he said. "NEW JOINERS WILL COME"Continuing his statements, Yamalı expressed that there could be new joiners to the AK Party in the coming days, saying, "I can say that there will be new joiners to the AK Party until the congress. There will be joiners from different political parties to the AK Party. This party is our party. We have served this party for years; we are people who share the same cause and worldview. Therefore, we were welcomed with great satisfaction. Our friends were kind, and they welcomed us warmly," he stated.
