Hezbollah leader Naim Qassem described the framework agreement signed between Israel and Lebanon under U.S. mediation as 'null and degrading.' Qassem demanded Israel's withdrawal from Lebanon in accordance with the Iran-U.S. agreement. Following the agreement, Hezbollah supporters staged protests in Beirut.
Kasim made his first assessment of the agreement signed in Washington.
"THE FRAMEWORK AGREEMENT IS NULL AND VOID"
Stating that Lebanese officials consider the agreement they see as a success to be "humiliating and null and void", Kasim emphasized that the agreement is a "disgrace" and means "compromising sovereignty".
Demanding Israel's withdrawal from Lebanon in accordance with the Iran-US memorandum of understanding, Kasim stated that linking Israel's withdrawal to the disarmament of the resistance across Lebanon is a very dangerous proposal that crosses all red lines and turns Lebanon into a pawn in the hands of the enemy Israel.
Following the announcements of the agreement, protests were held in the capital Beirut, where Hezbollah supporters burned tires and closed roads.
THE US AND ISRAEL HAD REACHED AN AGREEMENT
In the negotiations between the US and Iran held in Switzerland, it was stated that a new mechanism would be established to monitor the ceasefire in Lebanon and that Iran would send a representative to this mechanism.
Following the fifth round of direct negotiations between Israel and Lebanon in Washington, a framework agreement was signed between Lebanon and Israel last night.
It is stated that the framework agreement, signed after the mediation efforts that the Washington administration has been conducting between Israel and the Lebanese administration for some time, aims to control the military tension on the ground.
