A frightening claim has been made about Prof. Dr. İlber Ortaylı, one of Turkey's leading historians and academics.
'ILBER ORTAYLI HAD A HEART ATTACK' CLAIM
It was alleged that 78-year-old Ortaylı was hospitalized due to a heart attack. It was reported that the famous historian was treated in the intensive care unit and that his health condition was critical.
CANDAS TOLGA IŞIK: NOT TRUE
However, these claims were denied by journalist Candaş Tolga Işık. Işık, who also co-hosts a program with Ortaylı on a YouTube channel, stated in a social media post regarding the issue, "The news that İlber Ortaylı had a heart attack is not true."
"IN THE HOSPITAL DUE TO ANOTHER ILLNESS"
Işık noted that İlber Ortaylı has been in the hospital due to another illness he has been receiving treatment for, saying, "He is being monitored under the doctors' supervision. He is not in intensive care."
TUNA ORTAYLI: HOSPITALIZED FOR CONTROL PURPOSES, THAT'S ALL
Following Candaş Tolga Işık, İlber Ortaylı's daughter Tuna Ortaylı also stated that the claims do not reflect the truth. In a social media post regarding her father's health, Tuna Ortaylı said, "My father did not have a heart attack, he is not in intensive care, he was hospitalized for a minor illness for control purposes, that's all. It is currently midnight and we are at the hospital, we sincerely thank you for your interest and concerns, but you are disturbing the sleep of a patient who is trying to rest with incessant phone calls in the hospital room."
HE WAS SEEN IN A WHEELCHAIR AT THE COURTHOUSE
Meanwhile, in the morning hours, İlber Ortaylı was seen in a wheelchair at the Istanbul Anadolu Courthouse, where he went to follow the trial of four defendants related to the case of 15-year-old Mattia Ahmet Minguzzi, who was stabbed to death, and to support the Minguzzi family.
