EuroLeague shareholder clubs have approved Beşiktaş's participation in the league next season. The black-and-whites will become Turkey's third representative in the EuroLeague, following Anadolu Efes and Fenerbahçe Beko. Additionally, a transition to a 24-team conference format is planned starting from the 2027-28 season.
Critical decisions have been made regarding the structure and teams of the EuroLeague for the upcoming season. In a meeting of shareholder clubs, Beşiktaş's participation in the EuroLeague was approved.
Beşiktaş filled the gap created by AS Monaco's preparation to temporarily leave the EuroLeague. Following the unanimous decision of the 13 shareholder clubs, the black-and-whites became the third club to represent Turkey in the EuroLeague.
20-TEAM FORMAT WILL CONTINUE
Although the EuroLeague management considered the option of reducing the number of teams to 19 to ease the dense match schedule, it was decided to maintain the 20-team format for the upcoming season.
A GREAT OPPORTUNITY FOR BEŞİKTAŞ
Beşiktaş reached the final of the EuroCup in the 2025-26 season but finished as runners-up by losing to JL Bourg. JL Bourg's announcement that they would not use their EuroLeague rights was one of the developments that paved the way for the black-and-whites.
NEW SYSTEM IN 2027-28
The EuroLeague will switch to a 24-team format starting from the 2027-28 season. A conference system is expected to be implemented in the new era.
