While passing under the Atatürk Bridge in the Golden Horn, the ship crew member Yasin Konya (32) lost his balance and fell into the Golden Horn after the tour boat hit the bridge pier. Search efforts initiated upon notification have not yet reached the personnel, while surface and underwater search operations continue.
UNABLE TO TURN, IT PLOWED INTO THE BRIDGE PIER
The incident occurred around 10:30 AM on the Fatih Atatürk Bridge. According to the information obtained, the tour boat named 'Hero', under the command of Mehmet P., began moving from the Golden Horn towards Eminönü. As the boat passed under the Atatürk Bridge, it could not maneuver; then it struck the bridge pier on the port side. The impact caused ship crew member Yasin Konya, who was at the bow of the boat, to lose his balance and fall into the Golden Horn.
SEARCH OPERATIONS CONTINUE
Upon notification, teams from the Maritime Port Branch Directorate and Coast Guard were dispatched to the scene. The teams initiated surface and underwater search operations in the area to find the crew member who fell into the sea. While Yasin Konya has not yet been reached, it was learned that search efforts are ongoing. The investigation into the incident is being carried out by the Coast Guard teams.
