A traffic accident that occurred in the Konyaaltı district of Antalya in the evening hours ended in tragedy. The light commercial vehicle, which went out of the driver's control, crossed the barriers on the roadside and rolled down an approximately 50-meter cliff. While 2 people lost their lives in the accident, 4 people in the vehicle were injured. The injured, who were stranded on the cliff, were rescued through the difficult work of the teams and taken to the hospital.
In Antalya’s Konyaaltı district, a light commercial vehicle that failed to make the turn crossed the barriers and rolled down an approximately 50-meter cliff. Two people in the vehicle, which rolled over and turned into scrap, lost their lives, while four people were injured. The teams’ operation to rescue the injured lasted about half an hour.
WENT OUT OF CONTROL AT THE BEND
The accident occurred around 19:30 on Salkıkent Street in Doyran Neighborhood of Konyaaltı district. The light commercial vehicle with license plate 07 NAP 43, driven by Cemal Oktay (67), who was traveling from Saklıkent toward Antalya city center, went out of control at the bend in the Aşağıin area. The vehicle crossed the barriers and rolled down the cliff from a height of about 50 meters.
Other drivers who saw the vehicle fall down the cliff immediately called the 112 Emergency Call Center and asked for help.
TWO PEOPLE LOST THEIR LIVES AT THE SCENE
Upon the report, AFAD, fire brigade, gendarmerie, and many medical teams were dispatched to the accident scene. In the check carried out by teams arriving in the area, it was determined that the driver Cemal Oktay and Şükrü Fidan (62), who was in the vehicle, had lost their lives.
Bedriye C.O., Leyla T., Berivan O., and the young man named Furkan, who were in the vehicle, survived the accident injured.
THE INJURED WERE RESCUED IN HALF AN HOUR
AFAD and fire brigade teams reached the injured who were trapped in the vehicle that rolled down the cliff, and after an operation lasting about half an hour, they extracted 4 people from where they were. The injured, who received first aid at the scene, were taken to hospital by ambulances.
The bodies of the two people who lost their lives were taken to the Antalya Forensic Medicine Institute morgue after the gendarmerie teams’ examinations at the scene.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
