8 MONKS KILLED

In Muang city, Mukdahan province, Thailand, an 11-year-old child drove a pickup truck into a group of Buddhist monks walking on the road. The accident killed 8 people and injured 18. Authorities stated that the child took the vehicle belonging to his father without permission and noted that the child is a special needs individual. Police have taken the child into custody.

Officials reported that 5 of the monks died at the scene, while 3 others died at the hospital. They also announced that 13 of the 18 injured monks are in serious condition.

WAITING FOR HELP ON THE HIGHWAY

Meanwhile, footage from the accident scene was heartbreaking. The images showed injured monks lying on the ground.

Authorities stated that the accident occurred at 11:55 a.m. local time near Na Si Nuan village, and the monks were walking toward Don Tan district after having a meal at the Wat Roi Phra Phutthabat Phu Manorom Temple.

The accident was recorded moment by moment by nearby security cameras, showing the pickup truck crashing into the monks at high speed without braking.
